Helen Todd

Executive Director

Prior to joining ArtGlo, Helen served for two years as Malawi Programme Manager for Global Health Corps, a fellowship programme aiming to build the next generation of leaders for health equity. Helen has previously worked with diverse groups, including refugee communities in the UK and Malawi, and indigenous communities in Peru. She loves working alongside and learning from people with varied backgrounds to find creative solutions to challenges. Helen holds an master's in professional studies in Leadership for Sustainable Development from Middlesex University and a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Philosophy from Sheffield University. In her spare time she is often found hiking, or enjoying art, music and theatre.

Rodger Phiri

Umunthu Programme Officer

Rodger has been involved in training and facilitation, research and development, project
conceptualisation, and design and implementation of various programmes in Malawi. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Development and a diploma in Business Administration, has spoken at international forums in South Africa, Portugal, Kenya, and Ghana, and has published several training materials. Passionate about metaphysics and Umunthu, Rodger believes that society is only as weak as its weakest members and strives to bring out the highest potential in people. He advocates for the rights of minorities, children, and other vulnerable groups in Malawi.

Bosco Chinkonda

Finance and Operations Officer

Bosco Chinkonda is a holder of a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences (UNIMA- Chancellor College) and a diploma in Human Resources and Business Management (ABMA). He is currently pursuing a master's in Sociology (UNIMA- Chancellor College). Bosco handles finance and operations with ArtGlo and in his capacity is responsible for the organisation’s finances, administration, human resources, and operations. Outside ArtGlo, he is a part-time lecturer in Sociology at Chancellor College and active in various youth networks. Bosco has work experience in child protection, programme management, and social research from other various work experiences. He is a strong believer in the power of innovation and collaboration as tools for development.

Lekodi Magombo

Students with Dreams Programme Officer

Lekodi Magombo studied Political Science at the University of Malawi Chancellor College.  He is a highly creative go-getter with a passion for taking on new projects. As a Dreamer in 2015-16, Lekodi led the project LoudInk, which propelled him to later become a mentor of other Dreamer projects and finally to join the team at ArtGlo. He enjoys hiking, writing stories, reading, learning new tech, and is on the path to releasing his first novel.

Sharifa Abdulla

Co-founder and Consultant

Sharifa works at the intersection of the arts, academia and activism. With an master's in Dramatic Arts, she is currently a lecturer in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts at Chancellor College. She is particularly interested in the design of participatory, arts-based methodologies and programmes that integrate individuals and communities as vital agents of change within the development process. She is the co-founder of the ArtGlo  and continues her involvement as a consultant on training, facilitation and programme design and implementation.

Sharon Kalima

Make Art / Stop AIDS Programme Officer

Sharon Kalima holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Malawi, Chancellor College. She is passionate about youth and women empowerment and also working with marginalised groups. Sharon has previously worked with Theatre for a Change as the Girls Education Challenge Project as a Project Officer; a project aiming to address the barriers that prevents marginalised girls from accessing quality education. Sharon loves reading and visiting new places.

Stella Machado

Finance and Operations Assistant

Stella is a financial accountant fuelled with transparency and hard work. She started her career at Water Services Association of Malawi in 2015, where she worked as a Finance Officer.  As a young and ambitious accountant, she is currently studying towards a degree in the same field. In her spare time she enjoys travelling, working out, and creating ideas on how to tackle financial issues.

Bongani Khoswe

Students with Dreams Programme Assistant

Bongani has worked in child protection and women empowerment. In course of her studies for a bachelor's degree in Theology at Chancellor College, she developed an interest in how the humanities can be used to understand the social, cultural, and religious context of people in Malawi to solve various problems in development. Following her interest, Bongani has conducted independent research which explored the intersection of Theology and other disciplines of study such as Politics and Medicine.

Laeticia Pemba

Monitoring and Evaluation Fellow

Laeticia holds a bachelor's degree majoring in Economics (with distinction). She is on
the verge of completing her master's degree in Economics under the auspices of African Economic Research Consortium. She joins the ArtGlo team as a part of the Global Health Corps 2018/2019 Fellowship class. Previously, Laeticia worked as
the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager for Maternity Worldwide Institute. Aside from skills in monitoring and evaluation, and project implementation, she also has previous experience in proposal development, banking and facilitating trainings. In her free time Laeticia is a fashion designer and a hair dresser.

Christine Bedenis

Communications and Resource Mobilisation Fellow

Christine joins the ArtGlo team as a Global Health Corps Fellow. She's previously worked in Ghana, Thailand, and the United States, in areas focused on children's rights and development. She holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism from Columbia College Chicago. She is passionate about children's rights, social justice and equity, and learning about various cultures. In her free time, you can find Christine hiking, reading, taking pictures, and working on her blog.
