It’s thrilling to note how complex and dynamic the issues of HIV/AIDS and human rights are within the region. Hearing of other countries’ experiences—challenges and barriers, the political and legal blockades, it made me feel like what we need is more than social change as a process. Maybe we should be approaching these issues with a ‘REVOLUTION’ approach! We need all boots on the ground.
These were some of the reflections of our Operations Officer Bosco Chinkonda, who represented the AGHCA for the very first time at the annual forum organized by the AIDS & Rights Alliance for Southern Africa (ARASA), held in May 2017 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The AGHCA joined ARASA’s network in 2016. The gathering brought organisations from all over Southern Africa with the aim of strengthening partnerships, learning, networking and setting a 5 year agenda for the region on issues related to HIV & AIDS, TB and human rights.
