CHIWOZA BANDAWE

Dr. Chiwoza Bandawe is Associate Professor in the Department of Mental Health at the College of Medicine, University of Malawi. He has also served as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology, University of Cape Town, South Africa from 2004-7. He has a Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Cape Town. His areas of interest and expertise include Social Psychology and, in particular, cultural aspects of human behaviour and mental health competence, Indigenous African Psychology and mental health education.  He has several publications in international journals and has published three mental health education books: Mind Tips: A Psychology of Practical Living Skills for Malawi (2005), Mind Tools to Sharpen Your Mental Health (2006) and Practical uMunthu Psychology (2010).  He has presented at several international meetings and taught Psychology as part of the University of Pittsburgh Semester at Sea programme in 2006. He is the current editor of the Malawi Medical Journal. He is a practising Clinical Psychologist based in Blantyre.
